About Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed
Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed is the Dean of the Masters in International Affairs, Economy and Diplomacy (MIAED) at the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA).
Prior to joining AIDIA, Professor Ahmed served as Professor of International Relations at the University of Dhaka, where he also held several distinguished academic leadership positions, including Chairperson of the Department of International Relations and Founder Director of the Centre for Genocide Studies. He continues to serve as Executive Director of the Centre for Alternatives (CA), Bangladesh.
With an academic career spanning more than four decades, Professor Ahmed is an internationally recognized scholar of international relations and one of South Asia's leading voices on diplomacy, foreign policy, and regional affairs. His research encompasses international relations, South Asian politics, strategic studies, migration, development, genocide and mass violence, and hydro-diplomacy. He has held visiting appointments and fellowships at leading universities and research institutions across Asia, Europe, and North America, and has authored and edited an extensive body of scholarly work that has contributed significantly to research and policy discourse on regional and global affairs.
